Get found on Google Maps in Croydon
When someone in Croydon needs a plumber, an electrician, a locksmith or a builder, they open Maps, they look at the three businesses that appear, and they ring one. They do not scroll to page two and they do not read your About page. That top-three box, the map pack, is the whole game for a trade in Croydon, and the businesses sitting in it are not always the best ones. They are the ones whose Google Business Profile is set up properly and whose reviews keep arriving.
That is the work I do. Not traffic, not impressions, not a dashboard you will never open. Phone calls from people in CR0 through CR9 who need what you do today. I am Zain, I work on this myself, and Croydon is close enough that I will come and sit in your unit or your van and go through it in person.
In person across London. Anywhere in the UK on request. Remote worldwide.
What businesses here usually need
The profile was never finished
Most Croydon trades I speak to have a Google listing that somebody set up years ago and never came back to. No service list, one blurry photo, the wrong category, opening hours from a different era, and a service area that stops at the end of their own road. Google reads all of that as a business it cannot confidently recommend, so it recommends somebody else.
Reviews dried up years ago
Eleven reviews, the newest from 2022, while the firm two streets over has ninety and a fresh one every fortnight. It is rarely that customers are unhappy. It is that nobody asks them, and when somebody does ask, it is a week later by text with no link. Review volume and recency both count, and both are fixable without spending a penny on ads.
The site does not work on a phone
Almost everyone finding a Croydon trade is on a phone, often outside, often in a hurry, sometimes standing in water. If your number is not tappable in the first second, or the page takes six seconds to load on 4G, the call goes to the next listing. This is the cheapest problem on this page to fix and the one most often ignored.
Google Business Profile and reviews
For a Croydon trade this is almost always the first and biggest win, which is why it leads here rather than sitting fourth in a list of services. The profile is free, it is the thing customers actually look at, and it moves faster than anything else in search.
I rebuild it properly: the right primary category and the secondary ones that matter, every service listed with a real description, your actual service area across the CR postcodes, photos that look like your work rather than stock images, and posts going out so the profile looks alive. Then the review system, which is the part that compounds. A request that goes out at the right moment, with one tap to leave it, to your own genuine customers. No incentives, no filtering, nothing that risks the listing.
This is the strongest evidence I have
Falak Almurjan's Google Business Profile was terminated, not suspended. I worked the appeal and reinstatement process through to the end. The listing is live, holds a 5-star rating, and still collects genuine reviews. If you have lost a profile, this is the single thing worth asking me about.
A law firm with twenty years of goodwill and a 3.8 rating that did not reflect it. I built the request system, they sent it to their own clients, and over 100 genuine reviews arrived in about a fortnight, moving the rating to 4.1. The same mechanism works for a trade with a customer list.
I created the Google Business Profile for Sheraz Sports Motra and have managed it continuously for five years. It still ranks top of local results in its area. Five years is the number that matters: this is not a campaign that stops when the invoices do.
What else I can take off your hands
In the order that usually makes sense for a Croydon business, rather than the order that suits me.
If you are running a van and a business, you are not going to log in and update WordPress, and you should not have to. This is updates, backups, security and a set number of content edits a month, so when your prices change or you take on gas work you email me and it is done. The reason it sits second is that a dead or broken site undoes the profile work above it.
Useful in a quiet January, or when you have added a service and want to know quickly whether anyone in Croydon wants it. Measured on what an enquiry costs you, not on reach. Ad spend goes straight to Meta from your own account and there is a minimum, so if the budget is not there yet I will say so rather than take the fee.
Plenty of Croydon businesses do not need a new website. They need the one they have to load in two seconds and put a tappable phone number at the top. When a rebuild genuinely is the answer, every old URL gets a redirect so the rankings you already have survive the move, which is the step most builders skip.
One page for one job: emergency callouts, boiler servicing, a seasonal offer. Worth doing when you are running ads to it, because sending paid clicks to a homepage that talks about eight services at once wastes most of them. Last on the list because it is the least urgent, not the least useful.
What it costs
Every price is a starting point, and every service page has the full tiers. No contracts. Cancel any time.
Asked in Croydon
How long before I show up in the Croydon map pack?
Profile changes themselves can register within days, and I have seen a properly rebuilt listing move inside two to three weeks. Getting into the top three and staying there depends on how strong the businesses already sitting in it are, and in central Croydon some categories are genuinely competitive. Reviews are usually the lever that decides it, and that part is down to how many customers you are willing to ask.
I work across Croydon, Purley and Coulsdon. Does one profile cover all of it?
One profile, with your service area set to the places you actually travel to. The mistake I see most often is a trade listing every borough in south London hoping to catch more work, which tells Google the business has no real centre and usually makes things worse. Set it to where you genuinely go, and let the reviews and the local signals do the rest.
Do I need a website at all, or is the Google listing enough?
You can get calls from a strong profile with no website, and some Croydon trades do. But Google looks at whether the business behind the listing is real and consistent, and a working site with matching details, service pages and a tappable number supports that. If money is tight, fix the profile first. I will tell you that rather than sell you a build you do not need yet.
Can you come and see me, or is this all done over email?
I can come to you. Croydon is a short run for me and for this kind of work an hour in person is worth a fortnight of emails, because I can see your van, your photos, the jobs you actually want more of, and your customer list. After that most of it runs by email, with a monthly summary you can read in thirty seconds.
